The BCCRT (Baldwin County Community Response Team on Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse) is made up of a collection of members from various agencies and community volunteers throughout Baldwin County. The mission of the BCCRT is to end family violence and sexual abuse in the lives of men, women and children in Baldwin County through a unified approach.

The objectives of the BCCRT are:

(1) To improve coordination among agencies, departments, the courts, and members of the community in matters of domestic violence and sexual abuse.

(2) To promote effective prevention, intervention and other education programs, which will be developed based on research and data collection.

(3) To improve the response to domestic violence and sexual abuse so as to reduce incidents thereof and hold the perpetrator accountable.

(4) To educate the public about the need to end violence and sexual abuse as well as other forms of violence, as social issues.

The duties and responsibilities of the BCCRT include:

A. Examining and assessing the current ways in which the courts, law enforcement and other agencies deal with issues of domestic violence and sexual abuse.

B. Improving the cooperation and coordination among all participants in the justice system who deal with domestic violence and sexual abuse.

C. Formulating and implementing a community education program regarding issues of domestic violence and sexual abuse.

D. Make recommendations for uniform protocols to be used by all local law enforcement agencies in dealing with domestic violence issues and sexual abuse issues.

E. Examining and reviewing legislation that relates to domestic violence issues and sexual abuse issues and making recommendations to the local legislative delegation regarding changing or improving legislation.

F. Promoting the availability of public and private services needed by perpetrators and victims of domestic violence.
